I saw a thatched cottage in British Railway Modeller with plumber's hemp stuck onto plastic using Evostik for the thatch and had to have a go.
Really messy but great fun.
The garden walls are made from air dry clay and light coarse stone chippings from Geoscenics.
Absolutely superb modelling. Those etched railings really set it off as a fine model indeed. I might have to have a look at investing in some if I ever get anything off the workbench*
